Liberty and justice for all
October 18, 2025
Carolyn C. Cannuscio
I wanted to make something quick and expressive for tomorrow's No Kings protests. I scrounged in my studio and found an old t-shirt, which struck me as the right surface. Wherever I go, I want my message to come with me. I also want my hands free—to wave to neighbors, to help someone who needs me, to document the day in photos, or to hug. So, no cardboard sign for me tomorrow.
With yellow tape, a red sharpie, and fifteen minutes at the art table, I had my simple message.
NOPE.
No kings.
Not now, and not ever.
Usually, I lean on words to carry my message, but for me tomorrow is more about showing up, with clarity and purpose.
I hope tomorrow renews our strength and conviction that we can and must pursue liberty and justice for all. Peace to anyone reading this. XOX
